Within a short period of time, I have noticed our students absorbing the technology we are putting in front of them. Mrs. Ouellettes’s class had another interactive read aloud with Mrs. Randall’s class. Mrs. Monroe used 18 netbooks with 36 students during our Buddy Day. The technology isn’t just limited to the K-3 students. Staff with laptops have been attending staff meetings to learn the aspects of blogging. For many of us this is a very new venture! Sharon Betts has been wonderful as she shows us the basics. We will have one more staff meeting dedicated to blogging in hopes that teachers will begin using this means of communicating with families and a larger TPS community.
Netbooks in Multi-age!
Mrs. Towers’ and Mrs. Monroe’s students have been using netbooks in their classrooms. The teachers each signed out a netbook during a recent school break to “practice” using these tiny technology tools. Now students are using them in their classrooms.
Interactive Read Aloud
Today, I watched Mrs. Ouellette’s class at TPS and Mrs. Randall’s students at Tripp Middle School participate in an interactive read aloud. The story was Tacky the Penguin. The readers were Mariah and Drew. The audience was captivated! I am hopeful that this amazing technology will spread throughout our school. Thanks to the teachers and technology department!
A New Year and New Technology
I have finally made the time to begin working on my blog, again. Trying something new reminds me of how difficult learning can be for students. As we head into the new year, TPS will begin using netbooks with our students. We are very fortunate to have 24 netbooks for use with our K-3 students. Stay tuned for the ways in which teachers are using these tools to increase and enhance student learning!
