So, march 14th was a gloomy rainy day and I was sappose to be due this day. I thought I was having Braxton Hicks all day because to me they seemed like they wern’t getting any worse. So I spent the whole day laying in bed. My boyfriend was at work til close and He didnt get home until midnight. I was feeling depressed because the baby didn’t come on the due date. But it happends, babies always either come late or early. It’s unexpected. Well, anyways once he got home we watched a movie together because I wasn’t really that tired. During that movie I thought my braxton hicks were just feeling a little stronger. I felt pressure in my back so I decided to take a shower to help. Once I got out of the shower I went to my room and I told my boyfriend that I thought these braxton hicks were real contractions and I turned around to change into pajamas and then I felt a wierd movement in my belly and then it felt like a water balloon popped. It wasn’t no water balloon. My water broke. My face lit up with excitement. My boyfriend imediately started to panic. He ran upstairs and told my parents and he was trying to rush me to get ready to go to the hospital. My dad drove because they didn’t think my boyfriend could handle driving me. We called everyone to let them know I was in labor. I was three centimeters dialated when the nurse checked me. I got to the hospital about 3:30 in the morning. I tell you what I was in pain for a long time. They gave me some Newbain to take the edge off the contractions but that didn’t really work it just made me loopy kind of. Later on I asked for the epidural and the nurse said that there isn’t a anastesiologist around at the moment and that he is on his way. four hours later and he still didn’t show. I didn’t end up getting the epidural. It was too late. I was nine centimeters dialated. They decided to give me a interthecal which took the feeling of the contractions way down. I could feel my legs and feel the pressure of the contractions. It gave me time to rest when I got to the ten centimeters I was ready to push. I pushed that baby out in 20 minutes. Everyone said I was real strong and a trooper. Once I heard that baby cry I felt so happy. My boyfriend was so sapportive throughout the whole thing even after. He told me that it was hard for him to watch someone he loved in pain. He helped as much as he could. My baby was born October 15th at 10:15 AM. He was 6 pounds and 13 ounces and 20 inches long. He was perfect. I was in active labor for 8 hours and the pain is well worth it. I think that if you deal with the pain of labor it makes it so much more special. I have never been so proud.
